USB Optical Mice

Am I the only one having problems with USB Mice (Microsoft,Logithch, Chinese...)
The only one that works from time to time (and still I always get a Driver instalation required) is the one from Microsoft, which they ont have a Vista driver for.
Anyone knows of a way to force Vista to accept these mice?

Have you tried reasoning with Vista, or perhaps a bribe?
Seriously though, if the manufacturer of the hardware device does not have a Vista compatible driver, then the device may not function properly or function at all. Have you tried an old PS/2 mouse to see if it works? Have you filed a report with Microsoft? Did the Upgrade advisor program you ran before you installed Vista make you aware that this device needed an updated driver? Because if it told you that the driver was going to be installed with Vista and it was not, you should file a report about that also.

Lol, I wish I could bribe Vista.
I have filled a report with Microsoft, and I do have a PS2 mouse (an old one from Microsoft).Unfortunatly,my Asus notebook dosent have a PS2 port anymore. They're suposed to be history lol.
The Microsoft Optical is working atm, at least untilI reboot the machine. Lets hope I dont need to do that so soon.
But this USB problem really drives me nuts.
Tks for the comment.

You might have something wrong with your hardware.
I have Vista x86 and x64, dual booting, with a Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical and have not any encountered irregularities with it! The mouse functions exactly as it did in Win XP and Win x64.

Sounds like a hardware problem to me also. I have Vista on my HP laptop and it has no PS2 ports either. Im using a Micro Innovations USB wireless mouse and it works fine. Drivers were apparently already in Vista. All I did was plug it in and it worked. -- If you can read this, thank a teacher. Since you are reading it in English, thank a Soldier.

A clean install of Vista Beta 2 had no problem detecting my oldish Logitech USB Optical MouseMan. Though the default driver couldn't make use of the thumb button on it. So I simply installed the XP driver for it and got my thumb button working. It is having no problems what so ever now.

Well, tks for all the comments guys (or girls), but I dont seem to have any hardware problem, and I still have the same problems.
And
if I try to install the XP drivers, they just wont.
Maybe I need to flash my Bios (I'm 2 updates below anyway).
I also have problems with my QTEK S100 (GSM phone with Windows Mobile 2003), and it also connects by USB (cradle). It also requires a driver instalation for my smartphone pocket pc,but there is none, and never was. All it was ever required was Microsoft ActiveSync in both machines. Microsoft launched a patch for it today, but still dosent work.
So, maybe it's just a BIOS problem with the USBs...
I'll try that and see if it works. -- Pampas

I have managed somehow to install Vista Beta2 OS. I also have problems with USB keyboard and mice. Keyboard is Logitech G15, and mice is Logitech MX 518. Keyboard works when selecting OS (prebooting phase, a mice is also flashing), after Vista is UP, everything stops working. If I restart and select Windows XP everything works fine. I have only managed to start mice MX518 once in Visa (don't remember what I did), but after reboot same problem occured. PS/2 works fine ( both mice and keyboard). Is there any way to solve problem with USB keyboard and mice.
P.S. On official Logitech web page there are no special driver for Vista
